Neva Masquerade

A breed of cats originating from the north of Russia, which was created thanks to the crossing of a Siberian cat with a Siam. Thanks to this, a beautiful species of Neva Masquerade cat was created, which is distinguished by a beautiful appearance and a nice character.

Neva Masquerade - domestic cat breed, classified as semi-longhair breed, originating from Russia. It was recognized by FIFe only in 2008.

They are characterized by a lively temperament and a rich psyche. Brilliantly intelligent, inquisitive, friendly and loyal, they attach themselves very strongly to the guardian.

They relatively easily adapt to new conditions and endure travels well, so they are also suitable for companions of people who like trips. They are communicative and a bit louder than their wildly colored cousins (Siberian cats).

Eager to play, climb and jump, they need a high-stimulus environment, hence they cope well in a large (also multi-species) cluster. There is no trace of aggression in them; rather, they avoid fights and domestic conflicts.

Neva Masquerade, like most large cats, mature very late. The breed has a growth period of around 5 years. Nevka markings color very slowly: they are cats that change practically all the time. Males are definitely bigger than females.

Females weigh 4 - 5 kg, the weight of males reaches 7 - 8 kg.

animals to which we can be sure that they will not cause allergies. There is such a danger, but it is less than with other breeds of cats.

Research shows that the main allergen in cats is the protein Fel d1, which is present in the animal's saliva and sebaceous glands. It was found to be less sensitizing than other breeds by measuring its level in the Siberian coat. The most extensive study was tests conducted by Indoor Biotechnologies in Virginia, USA, commissioned by the independent breeders association Siberian Research Inc. In 2009, more than 300 Siberian cats were tested within its framework. The results showed that most of the breeds had little or very little Fel d1 protein content in their hair. However, these studies are not widely recognized. Therefore, on their basis, it is absolutely impossible to make a decision about having a cat.

Before we buy an animal, be sure to spend at least a few hours in its company. Even cats that are recommended for allergy sufferers can cause an allergic reaction. However, we will certainly find many allergy sufferers who have Siberian cats and do not suffer from allergy symptoms. Reactions to a given allergen may vary, so it is very difficult to generalize unambiguously.

Neva Masquerade cat - character and requirements

The Neva Masquerade cat, the Norwegian Forest cat, and the Main Coon breed belong to the forest cat species and are similar to each other not only visually but also in terms of character. They are said to be of "dog nature". Owners of this breed of cats say that after returning home, their pets come running to greet them and are characterized by great devotion.

For this reason, the Neva Masquerade cat will be a grateful companion for almost everyone. Representatives of this breed like children and show a lot of patience with them. They accept the presence of other animals and feel good in small spaces such as a flat in a block of flats. These animals can be happy there if we provide them with places to jump in, i.e. a specially designed system of shelves. It is worth noting that this breed is not destructive, but like every purr its representative should have at least one scratching post at his disposal.

The Neva Masquerade cat is distinguished by great temperament and mobility, but it does not have persistence in it. He is friendly, affectionate, outgoing, inquisitive, courageous and intelligent. Easily adapts to house rules, knows how to keep clean, and quickly learns tricks such as retrieving.

When it comes to grooming, this breed needs regular grooming. Cats with allergies are best combed daily. Wet combing can also be used to reduce the amount of hair floating in the air and settling on various objects. In addition, you should regularly clean your pet's ears and eyes.

Hypoallergenic

The Neva Masquerade cat is a breed that is most often recommended to people with allergies. Does this mean that it does not cause allergies? What do you need to know before we decide to buy a pet? What distinguishes the character of the Neva Masquerade cat ?

Are there "hypoallergenic" cats?

For many allergy sufferers, the good news is that there are indeed cats that can be described as hypoallergenic. However, it is important to know that the word "hypoallergenic" does not mean "one that does not cause allergies", but - "one that sensitizes less". The prefix "hypo" just means "less" and is an antonym of the prefix "hyper". Neva Masquerade cats are therefore not animals to which we can be sure that they will not cause allergies. There is such a danger, but it is less than with other breeds of cats.
